A little while ago, whilst searching the internet for inspiring book blogs, I came across this book tag called the reading habits tag. I know the point of the tag is to be, well, tagged but I just couldn’t help myself. I first saw this tag over on Polished Page Turners and if you want to do it too, feel free! I officially tag you!
Question #1: Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I pretty much always read in bed. It’s warm, comfortable and quiet. Plus, I can cuddle up with my puppy dogs at the same time! It’s kind of the best reading position to be in.
Question #2: Bookmark or a random piece of paper?
I always use a bookmark! I have a really cute one with a little kitten on a pile of books that says ‘Just one more book’ and I love it.
Question #3: Can you stop reading anytime you want or do you have to stop at a certain page, chapter, part, ect.?
End of chapters. Unless I’m too tired to finish the page in which I just finish where my eyes stop reading, haha.
Question #4: Do you eat or drink while reading?
I’m always snacking. Always. So I’m always eating while I read and I have a water bottle nearby too!
Question #5: Can you read while listening to music/watching TV?
Yeah but I prefer not to. The only time I really listen to music while reading is if I’m on an airplane and there’s a lot of background noise. I get distracted by the song or lyrics if I listen to music whilst reading.
Question #6: One book at a time, or several at once?
One at a time! I don’t know how people read more than one! I just get too into my books to stop reading and pick up another.
Question #7: Reading at home or everywhere?
Prefer home but I’d read anywhere if I had nothing else to do.
Question #8: Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently in my head! I only really read textbooks out loud to help with memory and retention but when reading for fun, it’s always silently.
Question #9: Do you read ahead or skip pages?
Not usually. The only book I can think of that I’ve done that in was Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell because I hated the Simon Snow extracts. Other than that, I think I normally just push through because I’m too scared I’ll miss something important.
Question #10: Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
Keeping it new! I feel like breaking the spine is a crime against books and makes me cringe every time I see someone do it!
Question #11: Do you write in books?
Nope. It took me forever to be okay with writing in textbooks but I just cannot bring myself to write in novels. I think there’s just something so not right about marking pristine pages in a book so, I prefer to use post-it notes or write my thoughts in a separate notebook.
Do we share any of the same reading habits? Or do you and I have a completely different opinion? Feel free to leave a copy of your answers to these questions in the comments below!
