In Australia, Mental Illness ranks as the highest cause of disability and death for under 25-year-olds.
That’s a very scary and confronting fact.
Most of my readers (and myself!) are under 25 years of age and I know that there’s a lot of you out there who are also battling with a range of mental illnesses and learning disorders. That’s why this topic is so, so important to me.
I started this blog as a place to drive motivation, to form a community of people who love to learn and strive to be their best. I started this blog, not because I’m a perfect student with perfect grades (because I’m definitely not!) but because I want everyone to know that no matter what adversity you face, you can achieve anything! If you work hard enough and put your heart in it, you can do anything you put your mind to!
But you shouldn’t have to sacrifice your mental health and happiness in order to do that.
Over the next month, there’ll be a series of posts from myself and a few guest post writers, giving tips, tricks and some encouraging words on how to study with various mental health issues and learning disabilities, ranging from Dyslexia and ADD to Anxiety and Anorexia. We all want to show you that there’s help out there, there are things you can work with and things you can work around and that you are absolutely never alone in your study journey!
Keep working hard study buddies, you can do this!
If you or someone you know is seriously struggling with mental health, please contact a trusted adult, health professional or speak with your family and friends. A great contact for those of you who reside in Australia is Beyond Blue or Mind Australia. If you don’t reside in Australia and need some guidance on who to contact, please don’t hesitate to contact me, I’m definitely no professional but I will try my hardest to guide you in the right direction of who can help!
